Hot or Not? Isabel Marant Wedge Sneakers

I am absolutely in love with these Isabel Marant Wedge Trainers (or as they say in America, sneakers) and they seem to be a favourite for celebs, bloggers and fashion lovers in general.

When I saw this picture of Beyonce with new baby Blue Ivy, I could not help but fall in love with....her trainers; I think they are just amazing, they look really flattering whilst still being quite girly – which is hard to do with trainers. The shoe includes a 3.5 hidden wedge heel inside, so, in theory, they make your legs look longer and thinner like high heels. The only down side to these shoes is, they sell for around £450 - so that killed that idea there and then, but a girl can dream!

Despite what some people may think, I’m not much of a girly girl - I’m not a massive fan of painfully high heels (apart from on nights out of course) and I most certainly don’t like wearing anything flowery or floaty...so these are quite possibly my perfect shoe.

Beyonce is obviously a die-hard fan as she also wears them in her video for ‘Love on top’.

For me it was love at first sight, I knew from the moment I saw them we were meant to be together!...And when I finally sell my kidney for the money to buy them, I feel like I could get away with using the phrase ‘Bad ass kicks’ without sounding like a complete tool :)

What do you think? Would you wear them?

The Nail File

The latest fashion trend to take the world by storm is the statement nail polish, from subtle to the more.....extreme of designs, it is definitely safe to say, that when it comes to nails, bare is boring.

I think my 'statement-nail' idol has to be Katy Perry, she’s so creative with them and my favourite has to be these Sushi inspired nails, absolute genius!

From the ‘Crackle’ polish to pictures of their favourite celebs, it’s clear that women are becoming more and more creative with their nails, seems they have become the new fashion statement. These are just some examples of my favourite statement nails.

I have to admit, in the past I was never big on nail polish, my nails were always breaking, they would chip within hours of painting them and they just took waaay too long to dry (I am a very impatient person). But like many fashion trends I’ve come to love them, so thought I’d give it a go with these leopard print statement nail wraps. They were about £6.50 from Boots and include 16 individual nail wraps, not ideal if you are looking to get two sets out of them, although if you put them on correctly they should last you quite a while.

They were really simple and easy to apply, you just buff the nail to get rid of any shine, peel of the designs and stick them onto your nail, then file off any excess. Like any nail polish, it was a bit trickier to apply to the hand you write with but other than that I found them so straight forward and a lot less hassle than having to paint your nails and wait for them to dry.

It says they will last up to 11 days, which I’m a bit apprehensive about but I will keep you updated. I’ll defiantly be purchasing these again; I think they’re great to wear with a simple outfit on a night out to make a real statement.

Sally Hansen: The 'Lifesaver'

I don’t know about you guys but I have a nightmare when it comes to tanning my legs - It’s not so much getting the colour right, it’s the coverage. This might sound strange, wanting coverage on your legs but I sometimes get little red marks on my legs as a result of shaving and fake tanning them seems to simply highlight them even more and make them darker (not a good look on a night out).

I had heard so many good reviews about Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs but was always slightly dubious because of the price. But believe me, £10 is a small price to pay for what this miracle in a bottle can do.

Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs: Deep Glow 75ml

However, a couple of weeks ago I came to the conclusion that all of these reviews can’t be wrong and decided to give it a go. It’s also a favourite of the ever glamorous, Kim Kardashian. Kim suffers from a condition called psoriasis, which means she gets patches of dry, red skin and she revealed the secret of covering up her condition was Sally Henson Air Brush Legs and even described it as her “lifesaver.”

Guess what?....Kim Kardashian was right. This is now a product that I could not live without. It is almost like a spray on foundation, it covered up my uneven skin and shaving marks like an absolute dream. It also gives you a brilliant, natural looking tan as well - this stuff is ingenious, the first time I used it on a night out, I literally couldn’t stop looking at my own legs, I couldn’t believe how great they looked. I think my friends got a bit worried!

I find that the best way to apply this is with your hands rather than a mit, the only reason for this is because it is not like a normal fake tan and using your hands means you can rub it in a little better. It says to pray it directly onto your hand first then rub in, but I don’t think it makes much difference - I usually tend to spray it directly onto my legs just so I don’t make such a mess.

It’s also water resistant so you don’t need to worry about getting stuck out in the rain, it left no dodgy fake tan smell and there was no need to fret about streaks.

This, girls is a must have!

Lip Service

Want lips like Angelina Jolie or Rosie Huntington-Whiteley but without the painful injection, the answer is Lip Plumper...and it really does work!

These are just a few of my pout crushes...

Jealous much??...

....VERY!

At first I was a little sceptical of lip plumper’s but when I stumbled upon Sally Henson Lip Inflation Treatment I was pleasantly surprised. It was quite cheap at around £6.20 from Boots, it leaves a lovely glossy look without being too sticky, like some lip glosses I’ve tried and left my lips looking a lot fuller.

*The way  most lip plumpers work is they include ingredients like cinnamon to slightly irritate your skin, resulting in a fuller look – don’t worry it’s not as severe as it sounds.*

So when I ran out I decided to go one better and purchase the Sally Henson Lip Inflation Extreme – it left an even stronger tingle, maybe tingle isn’t the right word, slight sting (which can be even more irritating if its winter and you suffer from sore lips) however the result was as it says on the box...extreme.

Another lip plump that I now don't leave the house without is Too Faced Extreme Lip Injection. It’s a little more expensive at around £16 but I think it does vary depending on where you buy it. Again, this lip plump leaves a VERY strong tingle so you may need to fight the urge to rub it off, but it really does work.

So when creating the full-lipped look, firstly I apply a skin coloured lip liner – this MAC ‘Boldly Bare’ Lip Pencil is perfect as it is not too dramatic but gives your lips a bit more definition. I only apply the lip liner to the Cupid ’s bow (which is the curve in your upper lip).

Then I use a highlighter powder or light coloured eye shadow and apply a little bit just above the cupids bow. I tend to use this MAC ‘Ricepaper’ Eye Shadow or if not a very light gold eye shadow will do, this highlighter then reflects the light and gives the impression of a fuller top lip.

When applying the lip gloss, I find that the closer to the edge of your lips you go, the fuller your lips appear, however just be careful not to overdo it as you may end up looking like you’ve applied your lippy without a mirror.

Life's Better With a Tan!

I am a certified fake-tan addict & could not live without the stuff! Spray tans, tinted body lotion, instant tanning gel I’ve tried them all. But no matter what brand I use they always seem to leave me with streaks, that horrid fake tan smell & an orange glow that just screams ‘Fake-tanner.’

That’s why I couldn’t believe my luck when I stumbled upon this little beauty, St. Moriz Self Tanning Mousse. At around the £3 mark I thought there was no way it could match up to the likes of my usual, more expensive fake tan products. But this is by far the best fake tan product I have used for an instant, natural looking tan.

St. Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mousse 200ml

The colour looks a little scary but don’t be phased, because its wash-off – if you get any streaks or lines, you can just take it off and apply it again (I usually use a make-up remover wipe instead of water because it’s easier to remover a small area).

My tips for St. Moriz:

  • Always use a tan mitt, which you can get from Boots, Super Drug etc. There’s nothing more unattractive than dark brown palms!
  • If you have quite dry skin I wouldn’t recommend using this fake tan straight after you get out of the shower as the skin doesn’t seem to soak it up as well.
  • It's perfect if you haven’t got much time to get ready for a night out as  you can literally apply this minutes before you leave the house because it dries so quickly –just be careful not to spill a drink on your arm as it will take the tan off. However, the longer the tan has been applied the more it will stick and water marks won’t be a problem – if I have time I tend to use it the night before.
  •  I've also recently discovered that although it is a wash-off tan, it still leaves quite a nice deep glow even after you have showered. So for a more natural look during the week, apply the tan before bed & then showering in the morning – it takes the majority of the tan off but still leaves you looking nice & sun-kissed
  • Even though this is a body tan I do sometimes use it on my face – its prefect if you can’t be bothered to wear make-up but just need a bit of colour. I only put a small amount on my face & you have to make sure that you thoroughly rub it in as it can leave dark marks around your lips & eye sockets. But remember this does not help with coverage. If you have scars from blemishes or blackheads it may make them darker & highlight them even more (just be warned). You can also put a little of the fake tan on your face before applying your foundation – which is what I sometimes tend to do before a night out, again just another way to get a bit more colour instead of over doing it with the bronzer!

BEWARE – this is not a fake tan to leave on before you go to the gym! I learnt this the hard way when I fake tanned the night before a gym class, I forgot to wash it off the next morning & to my horror, where I had sweated not only had it come off but it had also left a green tinge!...Not the look to go for when you fancy the instructor.
